The Hoff is a University of Arizona fan…great…

thehoffzonazoo1.jpgUsually, I whole heartedly disagree with the guys over at Pitchfork Nation. Not because they are bad guys or misinformed. No, it’s because I have a piece of paper that says I suffered through 4 years of purgatory in Tucson, so I am contractually required to hold the opposite view point.

Well, today I break ranks and am willing to admit Pitchfork Nation is right when they give their “reason #12395873 to hate the ”… David Hasselhoff is a fan.

While they were wrong with the other 12395872 reasons, the fact that David Hasselhoff is now a fan of the football team is almost enough to make me turn in my diploma, or at least be sick.

On his blog Hasselhoff says:

The Wildcats ROCK! Arizona’s got talent… 70 to nothing!!! WOW. Taylor Ann and I are honored to be part of the UOFA family…

Uh…I don’t think Hasselhoff’s statement of “Arizona’s got talent” is a ringing endorsement. This is the same person who thinks a guy dressed like Britney Spears has enough talent to win a million dollars. It’s kind of like Lee Corso talking about the talents of designers on Project Runway. The opinion doesn’t carry much weight. As for being honored–well that at least makes one of us.

As if it weren’t bad enough that “the Hoff” is a fan of the ‘Cats, he actually showed up to the game against Idaho and sat in the student section with his daughter.

Don’t believe me? Here is video proof:

I’m not quite sure where to start with either of those videos except to say that the UofA has found it’s new battle cry in it’s quest for a bowl bid, “WE ARE ALL VIRGINS!!!!” . Sorry to say, but based on the people I knew at the UofA, you only need to give your daughter and her two friends a few weeks before that statement doesn’t hold true.

Maybe the University can produce new promotional videos with the tagline, “Here we are at UofA–this f%#$ing place rocks man”. I can see it now random people, including Hasselhoff, saying the line in front of the library, the college of science, the media arts department. The marketing potential is infinite.

Luckily, we here at The Hub obtained some post game footage of the Hoff (or at least we imagine this is the way the post game celebration went down).

Ah, be proud Arizona. The Hoff’s your newest fan.
