Byrnesie healing well, but won’t be back in ‘08

I saw Eric Byrnes online this morning on livevideo.com. He said the doctor was pleased with the latest MRI of his hamstring. The leg is healing very well. But EB has been advised to not push it. So Byrnesie won’t be coming back in ‘08. The doctor has recommended that Byrnesie treat his leg as if it has been operated on. And that healing process is four to six months. So Byrnesie is looking at trying to get some at-bats during the instructional league. He has also been studying Spanish for a possible return to the Dominican Republic during the latter part of the winter league season. He told me specifically that I could stop worrying that he was going to do something stupid. (I’m gonna hold you to that, Byrnesie!)

He can hit, but running full out, such as when he tried to steal third and hurt himself, is too risky. He’s not going to put the ‘09 season in jeopardy by trying to come back.

Some good news for fans of the Eric Byrnes Show, it has been nominated for 2 Emmys. Byrnesie really hopes that the episode featuring Saulo Morris wins. And Saulo, who has been battling leukemia, is doing well now.
