Mike Sando, who writes a very entertaining blog on the NFC West for ESPN.com, put together his NFC West All-Star team, if you will. Sando picked a starting lineup for offense and defense comprised of only players from Arizona, Seattle, San Francisco and St. Louis.
No surprise, the Seahawks were the most well-represented team, landing 3 spots on offense and 5 on defense. The interesting part is that the Cardinals were tied for the second-most players on the squad, with 5. The Cardinal players selected to this honor by Sando were left guard Reggie Wells, wide receivers Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald, defensive tackle Darnell Dockett and strong safety Adrian Wilson.
The other team that produced 5 picks was the St. Louis Rams, one of the worst teams in football a year ago. The Rams’ five players were right guard, and Glendale Mountain Ridge product, Richie Incognito, running back Steven Jackson, tight end Randy McMichael, defensive end Leonard Little and defensive tackle La’Roi Glover.
I know there’s a lot of optimism surrounding the Cardinals this season, but this whole thing kinda bummed me out.
