Breaking down D-Backs ‘09 schedule

By Vince Marotta, September 17th, 2008 2:12 PM

With the way the Diamondbacks have been playing for the better part of 5 months, what better time to break down the team’s 2009 schedule, which was released today.

The Diamondbacks will open their slate with a 9-game homestand on April 6th, hosting Colorado, the Dodgers, and St. Louis. After a short 3-game road trip to San Francisco April 17-19, they’ll return to Chase field for another nine games, featuring Colorado, San Francisco and the Chicago Cubs. That’s right D-Backs’ fans. Eighteen of the first 21 games of the season are at home.

They’ll end the season in strange fashion–with a 6-game road trip to San Francisco and…Chicago???

The Diamondbacks will be paired with the American League West in Interleague play in ‘09 starting with a visit to Oakland May 22-24. June 16-21 they’ll travel to Kansas City for three games with the Royals and to Seattle for a trio of games at Safeco Field against the Mariners. They’ll conclude Interleague action with 6 games against the Rangers and Angels at Chase Field from June 23-28.
