So much for having the first 3-0 start since 1974. Carlos Rogers intercepted a Kurt Warner 4th quarter pass off of a deflection, leading to a Jason Campbell touchdown pass to Santana Moss, and giving the Washington Redskins a 24-17 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Tied at 17 apiece, Warner tried to find Steve Breaston deep over the middle, but the ball was underthrown, bounced off of the helmet of Washington defender Leigh Torrence and Rogers made a diving catch, got up and returned it 42 yards to the Cardinals’ 15 yard line. Two plays later, Campbell found Moss for the go-ahead score.
Stats of the Game:
- Two Cardinal turnovers led to 10 Washington points. In the second quarter, Edgerrin James fumbled and Rogers recovered at the Arizona 34 yard line. That led to a Shaun Suisham 48-yard field goal that made it 10-0 Redskins. Rogers interception in the 4th led to Washington’s go-ahead touchdown.
- In the 4th quarter, the Cardinals were held to just 23 yards of offense, while the Redskins gained 99 yards.
- The last time the Cardinals started 2-0, back in 1991, their third game was on the road at Washington. The Redskins prevailed 34-0.
