ASU Cuts Men’s Wrestling, Tennis, and Swimming

By Corey on May 15th, 2008

Men’s sports cut at ASU

Here is a link to the story: http://www.tucsoncitizen.com/ss/frontpage/85177.php This is just terrible news for ASU fans, but it's something that comes with the lack of support the teams have been given ASU can't afford to fund 22 sports because not enough people are showing up to the games, buying ASU merchandise, or donating [...]

Since I’ve Been Gone

By Corey on April 18th, 2008

James Harden

I've had mid-terms and vacations, and all kinds of stuff interfering with my blog lately. Furtunately, there hasn't been too much action in Sun Devil Nation. The baseball team started off the season great, but have faded a bit. They have now lost 4 games, and are currently ranked #4 in the nation. Spring football has [...]

Congratulation Devils

By Corey on March 26th, 2008

James Harden

The season is over for the Arizona men’s basketball team.  They lost by thirteen points at home against the University of Florida.

The Sun Devils started the game off ugly, as the Gators jumped to a 17-3 lead.  ASU slowly worked their way back throughout the game, and even managed to take a two point lead

ASU Marching Through the NIT

By Corey on March 21st, 2008

Jeff Pendergraph

The players came over to slap hands with the student-section.  One by one the players ran by, but it was Jeff Pendergraph’s face that said it all.  The previous two seasons Pendergraph had suffered through consecutive losing season with ASU.  While he was certainly disappointed the Sun Devils were left out of the NCAA tournament, he

Bubble… Burst

By Corey on March 17th, 2008

Madison Square Garden

Arizona State was left out of the tournament. They likely lost their spot when Georgia took down Arkansas for the SEC title.

The toughest thing to swallow were the seeds Oregon (9) and Arizona (10) landed. That showed the committee didn’t even view us as close to those two teams, despite finishing

Still Sweating the Bubble

By Corey on March 15th, 2008

The difference

ASU and Sun Devil Nation have been bubble watching for the past few days, and what have we learned? Well… not a whole lot. The size of and number of teams on the bubble may have been whittled down, but Arizona State is still right on the fringe. As far as I’m concerned, there [...]

Loss to USC Puts ASU at Mercy of the Committee

By Corey on March 13th, 2008

Bubble Watching.

ASU lost to USC 59-55. Now they are forced into a sort of college basketball purgatory, and wait for things top play themselves out. They certainly aren’t out, but they need help. First, I’d like to give a few thoughts on the game. I am not someone who believes that the refs can blow a game. Clearly, ASU’s inability [...]

ASU is Riding the Bubble

By Corey on March 12th, 2008

James Harden

Arizona State is now sitting uncomfortably on the bubble after splitting on their trip up to Oregon. Expecting a win against OU would have been a stretch, but stealing a victory from the Ducks could have all but guaranteed a tournament birth for the Sun Devils. Unfortunately, I was not able to see either of [...]

Devils Face Tough Road Trip After Routing Trojans

By Corey on March 3rd, 2008

James Harden

I would like to apologize for not posting a review of the USC game. I figured every ASU fan has been bombarded by the articles stating “The Sun Devils are amazing and a lock for the tournament”. These articles have a point. ASU did just beat a very good USC team decisively, and [...]

Undisciplined ASU Falls to UCLA, Hurts Tournament Chances

By Corey on February 29th, 2008

Kevin Love

I'd ike to use this space to briefly discuss the UCLA game, and then go into depth on ASU's tournament hopes. Make no mistake about it, despite a 21 point route, last night's game was a perfectly winnable one for ASU.   That is, if they had played disciplined, fundamental basketball. I see them do the drills in [...]

Plethora of ASU News

By Corey on February 27th, 2008

Sparky

Midterms have put me behind on my updates, so there is alot of ASU stuff to discuss. I'll start with with the basketball games up in Washington this past week. ASU's first game was a 59-47 loss at #17 WSU. ASU had many missed opportunites, and a few bad errors during the game. Washington State, [...]

ASU vs. Washington St. Thread

By Corey on February 21st, 2008

ASU vs. WAZZU

After suffering a heartbreaking loss to the Washington State at Wells Fargo Arena a few weeks ago, the Sun Devils are poised to once again take on the Cougars tonight at 7 p.m. (Mountain Standard Time). Arizona State matches up very well with Washington State. In games where ASU has really struggled, they have been [...]

Behind the Runs

By Corey on February 20th, 2008

Jeff Pendergraph

Today's State Press (ASU's school newspaper) had an interesting article on the Sun Devils. The story, written by Alex Espinoza, looks at the large scoring runs ASU has allowed other teams over the past few weeks. He gives the largest runs in each of the past six games: 17-1 vs. Cal, 26-2 vs. Stanford, 22-6 at Arizona, [...]
