Cubs fans are what’s wrong with Arizona sports

By Greg Esposito on July 21st, 2008

cubsfans.jpg

I'm not quite sure what city I live in. Last time I checked it's 110 degrees outside without any humidity so it must not be Chicago. I wish I could tell that by going to Chase Field this week, listening to the radio or reading the local newspapers. The Diamondbacks three game series versus the Cubs today, [...]

Matt Barnes a Sun, but who’s next?

By Greg Esposito on July 21st, 2008

mattbarnes721.jpg

The Matt Barnes signing was a pleasant surprise in what has been a dull start to free agency for the Suns. Too bad that's about all it was. Barnes is a nice addition for the Suns and will be able to be Shawn Marion lite for the 2008-2009 squad. The real issue is that in no [...]

We must protect this nest

By Greg Esposito on July 18th, 2008

That's the battle cry of the Arizona Cardinals... when it comes to ticket sales. The team has devised the "Protect the Nest Plan" in an attempt to keep the University of Phoenix Stadium filled with red when the Cowboys come to town on October 12. The "Plan" forces anyone wanting to attend the Cowboys Cardinals game, including Cardinals [...]

Another one bites the dust: Dragic to stay in Spain

By Greg Esposito on July 18th, 2008

In an interview with a Spanish Newspaper Suns second round pick, and heir apparent to Steve Nash, Goran Dragic says he will remain in Spain for the upcoming season. "It is true the Suns wanted me on board, but I think the best for me is to go to Spain and try to find my niche with Baskonia." That's [...]

When free agency dust settles will Suns be left holding the bag?

By Greg Esposito on July 17th, 2008

In recent seasons the Suns have tried to sign John Salmons, Joe Johnson, Chris Duhon, Anthony Johnson and Tyronn Lue. A grand total of zero of them have wound up on their roster. Instead they choose to head to basketball meccas such as Sacramento, Atlanta, New York, Orlando, and Milwaukee. I never thought I'd see a day when [...]

Tony Clark to the rescue?

By Greg Esposito on July 17th, 2008

According to ESPN.com the Arizona Diamondbacks have re-acquired first baseman Tony Clark from the San Diego Padres. The Diamondbacks have sent pitching prospect Evan Scribner to San Diego for Clark. I've been all for the Diamondbacks making a move but I'm not quite sure that this is the one that will make the difference. Clark isn't a better [...]

By Greg Esposito on July 15th, 2008

snyder715.jpg

By now you have undoubtedly heard about the injury Diamondbacks catcher Chris Snyder suffered. If you are a man you probably even suffered a little bit with him. Well no need to worry anymore because Snyder has a "new buddy" that will take care of everything. When he makes his return to the lineup following the [...]

Charles Barkley the original blogger?

By Greg Esposito on July 15th, 2008

It would be easy to jump on the bandwagon and make fun of Charles Barkley for not knowing what a blog is but what's the point? Sure in an interview on TV he compared his golf game to a blog saying, "My game is like a blog". He later admitted he had no clue what a blog [...]

No Barry? How about Richie?

By Greg Esposito on July 11th, 2008

sexson711.jpg

Have you ever driven by someones front yard and notice something they are throwing out and think you could use it? Now that the Giants trash isn't the Diamondbacks treasure it's time for them to focus on another yard. It's time for them to back the truck up to the Mariners yard and pick up [...]

Steve Nash has a mummy fetish

By Greg Esposito on July 8th, 2008

OK, not sure that he really does but he sure acts like it in this promo for the upcoming Mummy movie. Got to love the shameless promotion on ESPN and Sportscenter for the movie. Anyone else think that both ESPN and Brendan Fraser are desperate for money?[...]

Who the Suns should have picked up instead of Lopez

By Greg Esposito on June 27th, 2008

rlopez62708.jpg

Sure, Robin Lopez could turn into a great NBA player, but after waiting four years for the Suns to cash in the Atlanta pick, it was quite anticlimactic. In a draft that touted such talent as OJ Mayo, Derrick Rose, Jerryd Bayless and others the Suns came away with a "defensive minded" player [...]

Suns select Robin Lopez

By Greg Esposito on June 26th, 2008

robinlopez.jpg

Stanford center Robin Lopez was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 15th pick in the first round. He is 7'0" 255lbs and averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds a game in his final year with the Cardinal. He is a defensive oriented center that has potential on the offensive end but has yet to [...]

Suns have missed the mark in prior drafts

By Greg Esposito on June 26th, 2008

The 2008 NBA draft is on tap tonight. For the Phoenix Suns and their fans hope springs eternal. For all the excitement and hope surrounding the Suns two picks there should also be a bit of caution. Over the last 40 years for every Amare Stoudemire, Alvin Adams and Steve Nash the Suns [...]

Rattle the vote, Why?

By Greg Esposito on June 24th, 2008

Email Subject: "Time is running out: Upton, Reynolds need your vote". How many of you have received the same or similar emails from the Arizona Diamondbacks in recent weeks? Is it just me or does this seem almost as bad as the emails you get with subjects like "luxury watches for $.99", "Nigerian Prince has money for you" and [...]

Big decision awaits Jennings

By Greg Esposito on June 23rd, 2008

Why live in Tucson when you can live in Europe? That is the question facing 18-year old basketball prospect Brandon Jennings. Jennings, who signed a letter of intent with the University of Arizona, has faced NCAA academic hurdles. Those hurdles have made him question the decision to attend college at all and explore the option of playing in [...]

A personal thank you to Lute Olson

By Greg Esposito on June 19th, 2008

lute-olson61908.jpg

Dear Lute, As a University of Arizona graduate, I wanted to send you a thank you letter. I'm not writing to thank you for strong-arming Chase Budinger back, although that will make the team more bearable to watch. Nor am I writing you to thank you for getting rid of Kevin O'Neill or Miles Simon, [...]
