Photo: Greg Esposito/Fanster.com “You can the boy out of Arizona, but you can’t take the Arizona out of the boy.” That's how Danny White addressed the media today at a press conference announcing him as the new offensive coordinator of the Arizona Rattlers, under 2nd year head coach Kevin Guy. White coached the Rattlers for their first thirteen years of existence, and guided them to championships in 1994 and 1997. [...]

The Arizona Rattlers stay in the postseason was a short one, as they were defeated by the Grand Rapids Rampage 48-41 in the Wildcard round of the Arena Football Playoffs. The Rattlers were driving late for a potential game-tying touchdown, but were stopped 4 times inside the Grand Rapids' 5-yard line. Quarterback Jeff Smoker was stopped on a sneak attempt on 4th and goal to turn the ball over on downs, and effectively [...]

They guaranteed it, and they came through... barely. The Arizona Rattlers made national headlines last year when they announced they would give full refunds to their season ticket holders if they didn't qualify for the Arena Football League's postseason. The Rattlers limped to the finish line, losing their last two games at home to Colorado and Utah, but they got there nonetheless, with an 8-8 record. They'll host the Grand Rapids [...]

You can stick a fork in the Arizona Rattlers' 4-game winning streak, and there wasn't much intrigue about it. The Rattlers committed 3 turnovers in the first 16 minutes of the game, and Colorado capitalized, building a 28-point lead on their way to a 62-55 victory at U.S. Airways Center. Crush QB John Dutton completed 28 of 46 for 256 yards and 6 touchdowns [...]

Rattlers head coach Kevin Guy must be a huge fan of Wally Pipp's manager Miller Huggins. On Thursday Guy announced that quarterback Matt Sauk will start the remainder of the season for the Arizona Rattlers. Sauk replaced former starter Jeff Smoker two games ago after Smoker injured his shoulder. Guy had great quote in reference to his decision. "The old cliche is that you don't lose your job because of injury. [...]

Apparently, the Suns' hiring of Terry Porter got us thinking here at Azsportshub.com...is Porter the right fit, or is he going to meet the same end he met in Milwaukee? (He was fired after two seasons) Greg Esposito took a look at the worst hirings in Arizona sports history. I'm feeling a little more upbeat, so here's some of the better hires in the state's history. Lute Olson (1983-present, [...]

Matt Sauk threw 7 touchdown passes, 3 each to Siaha Burley and Trandon Harvey, as the Arizona Rattlers won their 4th straight, 73-34 over the Kansas City Brigade at the Sprint Center. The Brigade were victimized by 5 turnovers, including 2 interceptions thrown by starting QB Quincy Carter, the one-time Dallas Cowboy, who was making his Arena Football debut. Arizona's Terrence Joseph returned one of Carter's picks for a touchdown, and [...]

Rattlers Put Money Where Mouth Is, Guarantee Playoff Birth

The Arizona Rattlers have an interesting proposition for their fans, buy season tickets and if we don't make the playoffs you can have your money back. Seems like a risky offer for a team that finished 4-12 last season, just let long time and AFL great QB Sherdrick Bonner go and fired longtime GM and coach Gene Nudo. The offer seems like an awful lot of pressure for a new [...]
