Roof Top Report : NFL Experience Set Up and Super Bowl XLII Preparations
These shots of the University of Phoenix Stadium (where Super Bowl XLII will be played just weeks from now on Sunday, February 3) and Westgate were taken from the roof top of the Renaissance Glendale Hotel and Spa- which is directly across the street (Maryland). ( I got up on the ledge and everything for you all)
The temperature at 9am this morning was a chilly (for us Zonies) 45 degrees, and there was a bit of haze, which is expected to be cleared out by winds coming later on today. All in all, we’re not complaining- and I’m sure those of you traveling from the cold will love it!
From this angle, we are looking south to the stadium. On the west side of the stadium (right side of the picture) you can see the NFL Experience being set up- and it is a quite a production. The NFL crews setting up are a well oiled machine putting this together!
On the east side of the stadium (left), you can see crews are setting up for other events. There are several dozen mobile office units set up all around the stadium for offices and media, etc. There are buses in front of the stadium, on Maryland Ave. which will be blocked off during the game. (see here for map of the area to get a better idea of how things are laid out) The NFL is taking over!
Although the stadium if officially under the NFL’s control as of tomorrow, Jan. 17th, they have been here since a couple days after the Fiesta Bowl was done.
Across the street, to the north of the stadium, and to the east of the Renaissance Glendale Hotel and Spa is Westgate City Center, which is also working to have everything ready for the big game and all the fans and fun that it brings to town! You can see the list of events that will be at Westgate over the course of Super Bowl week right here.
Check in everyday to AZ Super Bowl Blog and see what’s going on around the stadium as we head into the last weeks preparing for Super Bowl XLII here in Glendale Arizona!

After researching other Super Bowl sites, I realized there was not a whole lot of really useful information for football fans, locals, or those who may be traveling here to Arizona for NFL games, the BCS Fiesta Bowl and/or Super Bowl XLII.
I decided to create a site that I would want to check out, full of information from locals about the area and what is going on here, for NFL games or Super Bowl XLII, so AZ Super Bowl Blog was born.
