Suns run over Kings for 4th straight win
(Photo: David Wallace/The Arizona Republic) Amaré Stoudmeire scored 30 points, Gordan Giricek added 23 off the bench (17 in the first half alone) as the Suns beat the Kings, 127-99 Saturday Night at the Us Airways Center.
The Suns shot 60.8 percent in the game, including 11-for-19 from 3-point range to build a comfortable 30-point lead in the second quarter.
Phoenix outscored Sacramento 42-12 in the second quarter. Forty two to twelve in 12 minutes of basketball including a 28-2 run to open the game. 28 assists and only 13 turnovers for a very efficient Suns offense.
Steve Nash added 18 points and Shaq and Leandrinho scored 17 each. The Big Cactus also grabbed 8 rebounds and went .500 on free throws (5-of-10).
The Suns swept the season series against the Kings beating them in 9 of their last 10 meetings over almost three years.
Phoenix (44-22) is now tied with San Antonio for the 5th playoff spot in the Western Conference, another good news.
“The sky’s the limit for this team” a very positive O’Neal said after the easy win. Of course there’s no real reason to get excited about beating one of the worst teams in the League.
Ron Artest scored 26 for the Kings who also got 16 points from K. Martin.
“Training Camp” will continue for the Suns on Tuesday and Wednesday night with a 2-day back to back games up in the great Northwest vs the Blazers and the Sonics.
