The Rant
Instead of writing about game five of the Stanley Cup finals, I thought that a more important article would be to feature Jes Golbez of Hockey Rants. He decides to take on the rest of the sports fans from the other “major” sports by logically and passionately stating that Hockey is a noble sport, and we truly don’t care what the rest of the world thinks about it (even though some of the mainstream media and blogger elite tends to talk down to the fans of hockey like the step-child that no one wants).
Jes responds very clearly to this article written by MJD and it has already generated so much heat that has touched a nerve with some of the non-thinking, fearful of logic folks at the sports.aol.com/fanhouse. Their comments about the popularity and ratings of the NHL amount to, “You don’t care…well you better!” Very insightful, and very clear.
Another outstanding missive came in the form, “If you cared so much what you thought, why did you post here? Move this to the NHL.” Boys, one of the main bloggers cared enough to write, “I used to be a NHL fan, but not anymore.” If he cared, he would have stuck to the NBA, the MLB, and whatever else.
Jes got tired of reading the noise and took a baseball bat to it. Most of us watch other sports and follow other teams in our market, and we write about hockey here. From reading the assortment of the other blogs, typically, we don’t pile on the destructive nature of the other athletes because we are just too caught up with the celebration of hockey, that nothing else matters. However, most of the MainStream Media and the blogger elite that showcases all sports tends to want to pile on hockey as the sport that no one pays attention to or that no one wants to learn about. It’s a shame really, but Jes lets it fly and for that I applaud him.
